Capital Projects
Crescent Lake Bible Camp is in the middle of a period of unprecedented growth. God has been doing some amazing things and we would love to have your help as we begin to minister to new groups, including At-Risk / Adjudicated Youth, Active Older Adult, area schools and Special Needs populations, just to name a few. Our current needs for capital projects include:
Adaptive Program Equipment ($13,000.00) A couple of years ago, we had a boy come to camp who was visually-impaired. He wanted to participate in the programs, just like all of the other campers his age and so, with a lot of creativity on the part of our Maintenance Staff, we created audible targets for Riflery and Archery; adapted our Primitive Hunting curriculum and more! But our goal is not to have to create "temporary" solutions; instead we would like to purchase the materials that would allow anyone to participate in any of our programs. To do this, we have come up with a list of Adaptive Program Equipment that we want to be able to use with our 2012 camping season. Can you help us as we change our programs to allow everyone to participate at the same level?
Adaptive Waterskiing Program ($58,000.00)At Crescent Lake Bible Camp, we don't want anyone to be unable to participate in our programs! After long discussions with Dale and Desi Haskins, our Waterskiing Ministry Coordinators, we have decided that we would like to purchase a ski boat and specifically equip it so that it can serve youth and adults who, because of limited ability, may not be able to participate. The gear we would purchase would allow "partner" skiing to assist the visually-impaired and even adaptive gear that allows campers in wheelchairs to participate! Can you help us as we strive to make Crescent Lake programs accessible to everyone who wants to attend?
Cabin Upgrades ($18,000.00)Crescent Lake Bible Camp needs to do some renovations to the existing Bath House and to some of the bathrooms inside the cabins. While this may not be a "glorious" campaign, it is still vital to our ministry! We plan to do extensive upgrades to the Bath House and major renovations to the bathrooms in Arena, Giles and Williamson with some minor upgrades in some of the other Modern Cabins. We will also be taking care of some minor issues which will enable us to provide a better experience for all of our campers.
Observatory ($7,000.00)Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork. In 2007, Crescent Lake Bible Camp was given a gift of a powerful telescope capable of viewing the heavens. Although we are very thankful for God’s provision, we are still in need of a structure to house the telescope for use by our guests. We envision the observatory being a significant part of our programming for youth and family camps, home school groups and non-profit organizations. Children, teens and adults will have the opportunity to view the galaxies and hear how God created them and how He alone holds them together.
High Confidence Ropes Course ($35,000.00)The High Confidence Ropes Course program creates a unique, shared experience that will allow participants to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their fears and their ability to move beyond them. Through positive encouragement, group support and mutual respect, participants in this program will have a chance to grow, not only as a team, but on a personal level, as well. This program is available for all groups, but can have the greatest impact on At-Risk / Adjudicated Youth.
High Teams Course ($22,000.00)Through a High Teams Ropes Course program, participants learn to work together to reach new heights, literally! Obstacles average 30-feet off the ground and are designed to challenge the team as well as the individual. The team, secured by mountain climbing gear, will only succeed by working together in this exciting Ropes Course. This program is available for all groups, but can have the greatest impact on At-Risk / Adjudicated Youth.
Wheelchair-Accessible Pontoon Boat ($32,000.00)As stated above, we are trying to make Crescent Lake Bible Camp programs available to anyone who wants to attend, regardless of ability! We have already missed out on opportunities because our regular pontoon boat cannot accommodate children in wheelchairs. We don't want to turn anyone away or have to tell them that they cannot participate! Can you help us by contributing to the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible pontoon boat that will open up the beauty of Crescent Lake to all of our campers?
