Give A Gift

Our 2011 camping season has been an incredible blessing for us!  God has poured out His grace and lives have been changed.  At the same time, we have had a number of donors rise up and partner with us to help this ministry continue to grow and reach out to people who need to hear the Gospel or stand strong in their faith.  This ministry is about changing lives and, thanks to your support, we have had over 100 spiritual decisions made by our campers in 2011!

I know that it is sometimes difficult to see the end result, especially if you are not here every day.  I just wanted to let you know what your gifts mean to this camp, this ministry and to the people we serve.  The following are quotes from some of our campers:

“I committed my life to Christ.”

“I chose to take a stand and be different so that non-Christians will see Jesus in me.”

“I made a commitment to truly give my ALL to the Lord.”

“I got saved!!!”

“I learned more about respect and to take responsibility for my actions.”

“I’ve decide to stop hiding my Christian life from…people in my life to avoid being laughed at.”

This year, though, it wasn't just the campers who experienced an out-pouring of God's grace:

“I know you like hearing stories of how campers’ lives were changed this summer but I thought you may like to hear how a counselor’s life was impacted this summer.  I came into this summer thinking I am fine and that I've already dealt with my issues, and that God wasn't really going to work on me this summer, because last summer I didn't really change a whole lot.  But, oh my, was I wrong!  God had other plans for me this summer…  I finally realized how much I was struggling and how much it was affecting my life.  Then the huge wall I put up was able to be gone, and behind that was the real me.  Then I took Life Skills and that helped even more...  I know what I need to do and how to do it.  This summer has been great I really didn't expect God to do what he did, but He did and I’m glad He did.  I still have a long way to go in overcoming my struggles and being healed but it feels so good to have had someone pour into me this summer, who really wanted to.  That was a God thing…” - Counselor

Thank you for giving [our] campers support to go to Day Camp this summer.  As the Day Camp staff, we have had the opportunity to minister to these campers through Chapel and other activities.  Thanks to your support and prayers, we have seen campers come to Christ and are able to minister to a boy that desperately needs the love of God.  Thank you again for your continued support and prayers.  With your help, we will continue to minster to these children in Day Camp. - Day Camp Staff 2011

This Summer, we had the ability to work even more with families of Day Campers.  One family of a child who received a scholarship has been struggling to understand why they are having problems.  They are a “blended” family and the relationships between parents and step-parents is extremely complex.  We spent two hours one day talking with the mother and helping her to develop a systematic plan for building her family into a team.  At the end of our time, we were able to share the Gospel with her.  (This is a mother of a camper!) - Camp Director's Note
