Outdoor Education

In 2009, Crescent Lake Bible Camp partnered with the Northern Lakes Impact Center to provide Outdoor Environmental Education, Teambuilding and Leadership programs.  The founders of the Northern Lakes Impact Center have been leading quality programs for youth and adults, adjudicated youth to Fortune 100 companies, for over 20 years.  We are thankful for this partnership which allows youth, adults, families and companies to experience the beauty of Crescent Lake Bible Camp year-round.

The Northern Lakes Impact Center does not own or operate its own camps; instead, we partner with camps that have facilities which enable us to provide programs that meet the needs of our students.  Currently Northern Lakes operates its Environmental Education and Teambuilding programming from Crescent Lake Bible Camp, a traditional camp with modern facilities situated on beautiful Crescent Lake.

The camp at Crescent Lake is home to a diverse combination of wildlife and ecosystems.  While attending an Environmental Education program, students will have the opportunity to study raptors in flight, track deer along the lake’s edge and observe a wide range of animals, including bats, owls, red fox and rabbits.  Ecosystems available for study include converted farmland, coniferous and deciduous forests, a 326-acre lake and the “Back 40”, an undeveloped natural area.

Enrich Your Present Curriculum

We offer both day (Grades K-2) and residential (Grades 1-12) programs. Residential programs can range from 2 days / 1 night up to 5 days / 4 nights. In addition, we can even bring some of our programs right to your classroom! (Please call for pricing and availability.)

The Impact Center’s comprehensive curriculum focuses on educational concepts geared to meet the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards, Minnesota Academic Standards and the Michigan Education Assessment Program (MEAP) standards.  Students will discover that learning comes naturally as they work with their professional instructors to explore the outdoor settings throughout the 100-acre site.  Our program encourages active participation in each study session, including hands-on experiments combined with first-hand experience.

In addition to environmental studies, schools can choose to include social outcomes in their curriculum.  With classes like Initiatives, Low Ropes and, coming soon, our new High Ropes Courses and Climbing Towers, schools can design programs that will teach students conflict-resolution skills, enhance self-esteem and develop leadership potential.

Our Facilities

Crescent Lake Bible Camp has the perfect facilities for all schools.  From rustic cabins with modern bathhouse buildings nearby to modern facilities on par with area hotels, we have the lodging to fit your needs.  We can accommodate groups as small as three to almost 300.  In addition, we offer ample indoor meeting space to make our quality programs available Fall, Winter and Spring. Combine that with a full-service Dining Hall that can seat over 200 and a wide-range of recreational activities and your school is in for the experience of a lifetime!

Our Staff

The  staff is dedicated to making your visit a successful one. Our low staff-to-student ratio contributes to the "family feel" of our program and our Instructors are carefully selected to provide you with the best quality of program.

All Environmental Education Instructors are required to have either a four-year degree, be involved in an Internship / Practicum program through an approved college or university or have extensive background and experience in Environmental Education.  All Staff must complete a background screening prior to employment.

All of our staff are required to have certifications in CPR and First Aid and preference is given to staff with more advanced medical training.  All Instructors are highly qualified to effectively teach each of our over 100 outdoor education curriculum choices.

Program Accessibility

Within available resources and to the extent reasonable, the Northern Lakes Impact Center is able to provide quality program experiences for persons with disabilities and other special needs.  With respect to any program for which a student requires special consideration, we ask all schools to fill out the "Special Needs Form" found in the Teacher Planning Guide and submit it to Northern Lakes to enable us to determine our ability to appropriately accommodate each individual.  Upon request, a confidential consultation with the Camp Director can be arranged.

Individualized Programming

The Northern Lakes Impact Center staff is willing to work with your school to tailor a program to meet your specific goals and objectives. We can even develop specialized programs to cover topics not currently offered in our curriculum guide.  For more information, please contact us at (715) 203 – 0505.  We look forward to creating a program to meet your needs.
