To our families and communities:
We understand that the current COVID-19 situation has many people anxious about what is happening. Like you, we watch the news, see the posts, catch the soundbites and wonder what tomorrow is going to look like. The one thing that we at CLBC all agree on is that we want to be a support, an encouragement, and a place of peace. While we agree that things are a bit…different…right now, but we also want you to know that we are here, we are ready, and we want to serve in this time of uncertainty.
So, as a ministry and a licensed child-care option, we are opening our doors to families who need a safe place for their school-age children while the parents need to work. We know that sounds counterintuitive during a time of social distancing, but staying home and not earning a paycheck is not an option for many of our Northwoods families. This means there are families that need to find a solution while the schools are closed.
If you are a parent that can stay home with your child, we encourage you to do that. If you are awake in the middle of the night, trying to find a solution, we invite you to consider our Extended Spring Break Day Camp. It will run Monday - Friday, starting March 23rd, for as long as schools are closed. We have greatly discounted our prices so that families who don’t have child-care in their budget can still afford to put food on their tables.
We have already communicated with the various departments that regulate our camp, including the Health Department and the Department of Children and Families. We are following their recommendations as well as those of the CDC. We have all of the necessary cleaning supplies (and toilet paper); we’ll be monitoring all campers for signs of illness; and we will be responding appropriately to local, state, and national guidelines.
This is a time for faith, a time for wisdom, and a time to reach out to those in need. May God’s peace be with you and your family. “He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.” Psalm 112:7
